Resumo

O Brasil é um importante player do agronegócio mundial e líder na produção de diversas commodities agrícolas. Porém o país possui um déficit na capacidade estática de armazenamento e somado a isso se tem uma perda pós-colheita bastante razoável, principalmente pela incidência de pragas em grãos armazenados. O trigo, juntamente com o milho e o arroz, é um dos cereais mais consumidos e produzidos no mundo. Porém também é um dos produtos que possui seu preço de mercado baseado em parâmetros qualitativos. A incidência de insetos em grãos de trigo armazenados acaba por afetar a sua qualidade. Portanto o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a infestação de gorgulho (Sitophilus spp.) no trigo armazenado. O estudo ocorreu em uma unidade armazenadora no município de Salto do Jacuí-RS. Foram retiradas 50 amostras de cargas de trigo a serem armazenadas, e realizada a identificação e contagem dos insetos presentes. Verificou-se que das 50 amostras, 12 estavam com infestação de gorgulho. Concluiu-se que a infestação determinada estava em um grau bastante preocupante e capaz de reduzir a qualidade do trigo armazenado.

Brazil is an important player in the world's agribusiness and a leader in the production of various agricultural commodities. However, the country has a deficit in static storage capacity and, added to this, there is a very reasonable post-harvest loss, mainly due to the incidence of pests in stored grains. Wheat, along with corn and rice, is one of the most consumed and produced cereals in the world. However, it is also one of the products that has its market price based on qualitative parameters. The incidence of insects in stored wheat grain ends up affecting its quality. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the weevil (Sitophilus spp.) infestation in stored wheat. The study took place in a storage unit in the city of Salto do Jacuí-RS. 50 samples of wheat loads to be stored were taken, and the identification and counting of the insects present were carried out. Of the 50 samples, 12 were found to have weevil infestation. It was concluded that the determined infestation was at a very worrying level and capable of reducing the quality of stored wheat.
