Resumo

O presente artigo apresenta os resultados preliminares de um projeto de pesquisa que encontra-se em desenvolvimento, mas que já aponta alguns fatores determinantes na sucessão em pequenas propriedades rurais familiares no contexto da região norte do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Os objetivos específicos foram: (a) caracterizar a estrutura da propriedade e da família rural; (b) descrever o processo e o estágio em que se encontra a sucessão familiar; (c) identificar os fatores contribuitivos que influenciam a efetividade do processo de sucessão familiar rural. O tema sucessão familiar representa uma oportunidade de estudo científico no campo teórico da administração rural. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva do tipo estudo de caso, com abordagem qualitativa dos dados. Os resultados indicam que a necessidade de olhar a pequena propriedade rural a partir dos membros da geração atual, o que não necessariamente representa ignorar os saber herdados das gerações anteriores. Talvez ali residem questões relacionadas a comportamentos, capacidades e visão do mundo rural.

This article presents the preliminary results of a research project that is under development, but which already points out some determining factors in succession in small family rural properties in the context of the northern region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The specific objectives were : (a) characterize the structure of the property and the rural family; (b) describe the process and stage of family succession; (c) identify the contributing factors that influence the effectiveness of the rural family succession process. The family succession theme represents an opportunity for scientific study in the theoretical field of rural administration. This is a descriptive study of the case study type, with a qualitative approach to the data. The results indicate that the need to look at the small rural property from the members of the current generation, which does not necessarily mean ignoring the knowledge inherited from previous generations. Perhaps there reside issues related to behavior, capabilities and vision of the rural world.
