Resumo

Diversos estudos buscam desenvolver a temática da internacionalização do ensino superior, no entanto, ainda não há um consenso sobre a temática, tampouco um conceito que englobe a temática como um todo, necessitando uma melhor compreensão sobre o tema. Para tanto, através da bibliometria, buscou-se apresentar um panorama dos estudos realizados atualmente, identificando as principais obras e autores da temática, além disso desenvolveu-se uma análise das redes de cocitação de autores e obras durante o período analisado. De acordo com os resultados apresentados, verificou-se a importância do Journal of Studies in International Education como fonte de publicação e ficou nítido a conexão intelectual existente entre autores Philip G. Altbach e Jane Knight, os autores apresentaram o maior número de citações e obras analisadas e ainda são os autores que possuem o maior número de ligações com os outros autores analisados. A obra “The internationalization of higher education: motivations and realities” de autoria de Altbach e Knight (2007), mostra-se como a obra de maior relevância para o cenário analisado. O estudo proporcionou ainda a formação de redes de cocitação e a possibilidade de desenvolvimento de estudos longitudinais que apurem as mudanças dos estudos relacionados à internacionalização do ensino superior.

Several studies seek to develop the theme of internationalization of higher education, however, there is still no consensus on the theme, nor a concept that encompasses the theme as a whole, requiring a better understanding of the topic. Therefore, through bibliometrics, we sought to present an overview of the studies currently carried out, identifying the main works and authors of the theme, and further developed an analysis of the cocitation networks of authors and works during the analyzed period. According to the results presented, the importance of the Journal of Studies in International Education as a source of publication was verified and, the intellectual connection between authors Philip G. Altbach and Jane Knight was clear. The authors presented the largest number of citations and Works analyzed and are still the authors who have the largest number of links with the other authors analyzed. The work “The Internationalization of Higher Education: Motivations and Realities” by Altbach and Knight (2007), is the most relevant work for the analyzed scenario. The study also provided the formation of cocitation networks and the possibility of developing longitudinal studies that improve the changes of studies related to the internationalization of higher education.
