Resumo

A agricultura familiar é uma categoria social importante para o desenvolvimento do país, seja na geração de emprego e renda, como também na produção e oferta de alimentos. Dentre as principais características da agricultura familiar destaca-se a heterogeneidade e que as atividades no estabelecimento são realizadas pelos membros da família. Neste sentido, reconhecendo a importância da agricultura familiar e suas peculiaridades, o estudo objetiva analisar as características dos estabelecimentos agropecuários de agricultura familiar da região da Quarta Colônia de Imigração Italiana do RS. A pesquisa caracteriza-se como qualitativa e descritiva realizada por meio da pesquisa bibliográfica e análise de dados secundários do Censo Agropecuário 2017, publicados em 2019. Como principais resultados apontam-se que a maioria dos estabelecimentos possui área de 20 a 50 hectares, predominando como atividade econômica a produção de lavouras temporárias. Além disso, destaca-se que a maioria dos estabelecimentos recebe assistência técnica pública. No entanto, percebe-se, de outro lado a baixa inserção da mulher na gestão dos estabelecimentos, e o envelhecimento dos gestores. Diante disso, é importante que existam políticas públicas que fomentem a participação e valorização da mulher na agricultura familiar, principalmente na gestão dos estabelecimentos, bem como da participação e apoio ao jovem em permanecer no campo.

Family agriculture is an important social category for the development of the country, both in the generation of employment and income, as well as in food production and supply. Among the main characteristics of family agriculture is the heterogeneity and that the activities in the establishment are performed by family members. In this sense, recognizing the importance of family agriculture and its peculiarities, the study aims to analyze the characteristics of family farming establishments in the region of the Fourth Colony of Italian Immigration of RS. The research is characterized as qualitative and descriptive carried out through bibliographic research and analysis of secondary data from the 2017 Agricultural Census, published in 2019. The main results indicate that most of the establishments have an area of 20 to 50 hectares, predominating as an economic activity the production of temporary crops. In addition, it is highlighted that most of the establishments receive public technical assistance. However, on the other hand, it is noticeable the low insertion of women in the management of the establishments, and the aging of the managers. In view of this, it is important that there are public policies that encourage the participation and valorization of women in family agriculture, especially in the management of the establishments, as well as the participation and support to young people to remain in the field.
