Resumo

Este estudo investiga a lucratividade da produção da Tilápia na fronteira oeste do Rio Grande do Sul, através da averiguação dos custos de produção (fixos e variáveis) para a realização de um ciclo de produção. Com a pesquisa foi possível verificar que a criação de tilápia tem perspectiva de expansão na fronteira oeste, visto que, a produção foi economicamente viável, pois o custo total de produção obtido foi de R$ 57.862,81 e a receita bruta foi de R$ 236.160,00. Portanto, a produção apresenta lucratividade, indicando a eficácia produtiva e também que a criação de tilápia, na região em estudo, apresenta uma excelente alternativa como atividade econômica.

This study investigates the profitability of Tilapia production on the western border of Rio Grande do Sul, through the investigation of production costs (fixed and variable) for carrying out a production cycle. With the research, it was possible to verify that the tilapia breeding has the prospect of expansion on the western border, since the production was economically viable, as the total production cost obtained was R$ 57,862.81 and the gross revenue was R$ 236,160.00. Therefore, the production presents profitability, indicating the productive efficiency and also that the tilapia breeding, in the studied region, presents an excellent alternative as an economic activity.
