Reumo
O Objetivo desse estudo é analisar as características comportamentais empreendedoras entre os
chefes de departamento da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM). Para isso os seguintes
objetivos específicos foram propostos: traçar o perfil dos gestores que exercem a chefia
departamental nessa instituição e identificar se o comportamento empreendedor está presente
entre esse nível de gestores da UFSM. Para atingi-lo, busca-se delinear o grupo de participantes
e identificar a presença das características comportamentais empreendedoras (CCEs), por meio
da aplicação do instrumento de McClelland (MANSFIELD at al., 1987), composto pelas
dimensões de Realização, Planejamento e Poder, abrangendo dez CCEs. O questionário é
composto por 55 questões e utilizou a escala Likert. A pesquisa foi realizada com toda a
população, composta por 85 chefes de departamento. O instrumento obteve índices
estatisticamente confiáveis. Como resultados verificou-se entre os chefes de departamento: o
sexo masculino (58 %), indivíduos casados (64%), formação na área da saúde (22%), famílias
que exercem atividade empreendedora (72%), departamento com até 20 professores (54%) e
ocupam o cargo de 1 a 5 vezes (86%). Também identificou-se a existência das CCEs entre os
respondentes, tendo as mesmas apresentado um nível de intensidade baixo, nesse sentido, elas
podem ser desenvolvidas.
The objective of this study is to analyze the entrepreneurial behavioral characteristics among
the heads of department of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). For this purpose,
the following specific objectives were proposed: to draw the profile of the managers who
exercise the departmental leadership in this institution and to identify if the entrepreneurial
behavior is present among this level of managers of the UFSM. In order to achieve this goal,
the group of participants is designed to identify the presence of the entrepreneurial behavioral
characteristics (CCEs) through the application of McClelland's instrument (MANSFIELD at
al., 1987), which consists of the dimensions of Realization, Planning and Power, covering ten
CCEs. The questionnaire consists of 55 questions and used the Likert scale. The research was
carried out with the entire population, composed of 85 department heads. The instrument
obtained statically reliable indexes. The results showed a predominance among department
heads: male (58%), married (64%), health training (22%), entrepreneurial families (72%),
department with 20 teachers (54%) and hold the position of 1 to 5 times (86%). It was also
identified the existence of CCEs among the respondents, having presented a low level of
intensity, in that sense, they can be developed.
