Resumo

A Polifeira do Agricultor é um projeto de extensão do Colégio Politécnico da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) que possibilita a interação entre diversos atores sociais, dentre eles universidade, comunidade e pequenos agricultores da região, sendo uma iniciativa propulsora do desenvolvimento local. Dentre seus objetivos, pode-se destacar o incentivo à agricultura limpa, apoiando os produtores na mudança da forma de produzir e fornecendo produtos de maior qualidade e mais saudáveis à comunidade. Essa preocupação com o elevado uso de agrotóxicos em uma produção convencional foi o fato que motivou o desenvolvimento do projeto. Desta forma, o presente estudo tem por objetivo identificar aspectos da aprendizagem social para a sustentabilidade na Polifeira do Agricultor. Para tanto, além da observação direta, realizaram-se entrevistas com doze agricultores participantes da feira e com dois atores que são responsáveis pelo funcionamento da iniciativa. Como resultados, tem-se a identificação de elementos da aprendizagem social para a sustentabilidade que fazem parte do projeto, como o estímulo de pessoas a desafiarem práticas existentes; o envolvimento social entre os atores para o desenvolvimento de competências e a aprendizagem social sendo vista como um meio para se alcançar algo, mas também como um fim.

The Farmer's Multi-market Polifeira is an extension project of the Polytechnic College of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), which enables interaction among various social actors, among them university, community and small farmers in the region, being an initiative that drives local development. Among its objectives, we can highlight the incentive to clean agriculture, supporting producers in changing the way they produce and supplying higher quality and healthier products to the community. This concern with the high use of agrochemicals in a conventional production was the fact that motivated the development of the project. In this way, the present study aims to identify aspects of social learning for sustainability in the Farmer's Pole. For this, in addition to the direct observation, interviews were conducted with twelve farmers participating in the fair and with two actors who are responsible for the operation of the initiative. As results, we have identified elements of social learning for sustainability that are part of the project, such as encouraging people to challenge existing practices; the social involvement between actors for the development of skills and social learning being seen as a means to achieve something, but also as an end.
