Resumo

O sucesso de um empreendimento solidário causou curiosidade e levou pesquisadores a investigar uma cooperativa localizada em três municípios pobres do norte da Bahia. A Coopercuc criada a partir da ação de três freiras com o objetivo de emancipar a mulher sertaneja e criar condições de sobrevivência para suas famílias apresenta hoje contornos de empresa de sucesso. Em uma pesquisa realizada através de vivência e aplicação de questionários os pesquisadores puderam verificar que os associados mudaram suas vidas pela renda que foi aumentada e também pela liberdade conquistada através da emancipação dos cooperados frente as dificuldades e dominação que a fome lhes impunha. Descobriu-se que o resultado do empreendimento tem sucesso respaldado nos saberes locais e na força da associação em cooperativa. A utilização de fórmulas locais de confecção de doces e geleias aproveitando o que a seca lhes proporciona faz da Coopercuc um sucesso comercial, social e ambiental.

The success of a joint venture provoked curiosity and led researchers to investigate a cooperative located in three poor municipalities of northern Bahia. The Coopercuc created from the action of three nuns with the objective of emancipating the sertaneja woman and creating conditions for survival for their families presents today contours of successful company. In a research carried out through experimentation and application of questionnaires, the researchers were able to verify that the associates changed their lives by the income that was increased and also by the freedom gained through the emancipation of the cooperative in the face of the difficulties and domination that the hunger imposed on them. It turned out that the outcome of the venture is supported by local knowledge and the strength of the cooperative association. The use of local formulas for confection of jams and jellies taking advantage of what the drought gives them makes Coopercuc a commercial, social and environmental success.
