Resumo

O tema desenvolvimento sustentável tem se tornado cada vez mais frequente em estudos de diferentes áreas, especialmente no campo da gestão, que nas últimas décadas tem buscado aproximar a questão da sustentabilidade às práticas organizacionais. O desenvolvimento sustentável, em seu entendimento amplo e global, deve ser de responsabilidade de todos e de todas as organizações, para tanto, se faz necessária uma direção sobre o papel de cada envolvido neste processo. Esta direção é dada pela Agenda 2030, por meio de seus 17 Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentáveis (ODS) que devem orientar pensamentos e ações de todos os países, assim como políticas públicas, para a erradicação da pobreza, promoção de melhores condições de vida e de trabalho no mundo. Neste contexto, reconhecido o papel da educação no processo de conscientização e mudança cultural dos cidadãos e das organizações, é que se propõe este estudo, cujo objetivo geral consiste em analisar práticas adotadas por duas instituições privadas de ensino superior de Santa Maria/RS em relação aos ODS. Para tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisa descritiva, qualitativa, com base em análise documental, buscando reconhecer e relacionar as práticas das duas instituições de ensino com os ODS. Os dados obtidos permitem identificar que o papel fundamental no processo de garantia do desenvolvimento sustentável vem sendo desempenhado por estas instituições, mesmo que em parte. As instituições incluem “cidadania”, “ética” e “responsabilidade social” em suas ações, o que condiz com o esperado pela sociedade em termos de formação de profissionais para o desenvolvimento sustentável. Também, as duas instituições prezam pela realização de suas atividades de extensão, especialmente as de apoio à comunidade em geral. Foram identificadas ações relacionadas claramente a 9 ODS, o que reforça a importância das instituições educacionais e que os caminhos para o desenvolvimento sustentável estão sendo percorridos, mesmo que a passos lentos.

The theme sustainable development has become increasingly frequent in studies in different areas, especially in the field of management, which in recent decades has sought to bring the issue of sustainability closer to organizational practices. Sustainable development, in its broad and global understanding, must be the responsibility of each and every organization. To this end, direction is needed on the role of everyone involved in this process. This direction is provided by the 2030 Agenda, through its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that should guide the thoughts and actions of all countries, as well as public policies, for the eradication of poverty, the promotion of better living conditions and I work in the world. In this context, recognizing the role of education in the process of awareness and cultural change of citizens and organizations, it is proposed this study, whose general objective is to analyze practices adopted by two private higher education institutions of Santa Maria / RS in relation to to the SDGs. Therefore, a descriptive, qualitative research was conducted, based on document analysis, seeking to recognize and relate the practices of both educational institutions with the SDGs. These data allow us to identify that the fundamental role in the process of guaranteeing sustainable development has been played by these institutions, even partially. Institutions include “citizenship”, “ethics” and “social responsibility” in their actions, which is in line with what society expects in terms of training professionals for sustainable development. Also, both institutions value their outreach activities, especially in support of the wider community. Actions clearly related to 9 SDGs have been identified, which reinforces the importance of educational institutions and that the pathways to sustainable development are being pursued, even at slow pace.
