Resumo

Após surgir dúvidas sobre a possível existência de uma mulher entre os pioneiros da “Rochdale Equitable Pioners Society Limited”, considerada a primeira cooperativa moderna, nasceu à questão de quem teria sido essa dama e a iniciativa de uma pesquisa bibliográfica. Anteriormente possuía-se algumas informações contraditórias de diversas fontes e materiais didáticos importantes, como a de que Ann Tweedale teria auxiliado na fundação da mesma, juntamente com 27 tecelões, assim seria a primeira mulher associada em uma cooperativa. Porém, no filme “Os Pioneiros de Rochdale” cita-se o nome de uma senhora, denominada Sra. Croft, que aparece em uma cena pagando sua cota social. Entretanto, questiona-se: quem foi a primeira mulher cooperada? Após diversas pesquisas, encontrou-se no site do museu de Rochdale o primeiro livro ata da mesma, na qual surpreendentemente constatou-se que não havia uma mulher oficialmente como pioneira. A partir de então, consultaram-se várias fontes científicas, nas quais não foram encontradas menções a esta Fake Science. Consultando o site Google Acadêmico (scholar.google.com.br), foram encontrados 43 menções a tal mulher pioneira, tanto em periódicos, quanto em trabalhos acadêmicos. Desta forma, a pesquisa tem por objetivo principal refutar a afirmação de que houve uma mulher entre os vinte e oito fundadores da Sociedade dos Probos Pioneiros de Rochdale. Também alertar sobre a importância de se discutir a Fake Science no meio acadêmico.

After doubts arose about the possible existence of a woman among the pioneers of the Rochdale Equitable Pioners Society Limited, considered the first modern cooperative, the question arose of who this lady was and the initiative of a bibliographical research. Previously there was some contradictory information from a number of important sources and teaching materials, such as that Ann Tweedale would have helped to found it, along with 27 weavers, so she would be the first woman associated in a cooperative. However, in the movie “The Pioneers of Rochdale” the name of a lady named Mrs. Croft is mentioned, who appears in a scene paying her social quota. However, the question is: who was the first cooperated woman? After extensive research, the Rochdale Museum's first book was found on the Rochdale Museum website, in which it was surprisingly found that there was no officially pioneer woman. From then on, several scientific sources were consulted, in which no mention was made of this Fake Science. Consulting the Google Scholar website (scholar.google.com.br), we found 43 mentions of such a pioneer woman, both in journals and academic papers. Thus, the research's main objective is to refute the claim that there was a woman among the twenty-eight founders of the Rochdale Pioneer Society. Also warn about the importance of discussing Fake Science in academia.
