Resumo

O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar e analisar na literatura internacional para os aspectos cognitivos e comportamentais de altos executivos relacionados a performance organizacional, publicados entre os anos de 1999 e 2021. Trata-se de um estudo de análise bibliométrica, por meio de seleção de artigos da base de dados Web of Science e análise estatística descritiva, a partir de uma perspectiva teórica do alto escalão. Os resultados mostraram que: (a) que há uma variedade de construtos comportamentais e cognitivos relacionados ao tema; (b) a área de Negócios e Economia concentra a maior da parte das publicações; (c) o periódico Strategic Management como aquele que apresenta o maior número de publicações; (d) escalões superiores, equipe de alta gestão e desempenho da empresa como as palavras-chave mais recorrentes; (e) os autores Chatterjee, A; Hambrick, D.C., e o artigo “It's all about me: Narcissistic chief executive officers and their effects on company strategy and performance” escrito pelos autores, como destaque na área. Entre a gama dos atributos pessoais, não foram encontrados nesta pesquisa, especificamente os construtos raciocínio verbal e habilidades sociais e suas possíveis relações com o desempenho organizacional, evidenciando uma lacuna de pesquisa.

The objective of this study is to identify and analyze in the international literature about cognitive and behavioral aspects of top executives related to organizational performance, published between 1999 and 2021. We used a bibliometric analysis study, through the selection of articles from the Web of Science database. Descriptive statistical analysis is used to data analysis. The results showed that: (a) there is a variety of behavioral and cognitive constructs related to the theme; (b) the Business and Economics area concentrates most of the publications; (c) the Strategic Management journal as the one with the largest number of publications. (d) upper echelons, senior management team and organizational performance as the most recurrent keywords; (e) authors Chatterjee, A; Hambrick, D.C., and the article “It's all about me: Narcissistic chief executive officers and their effects on company strategy and performance” written by the authors as a highlight in the field. Among the range of personal attributes, were not found in this research, specifically the constructs verbal reasoning and social skills and their possible relationships with organizational performance, evidencing a research gap.
