Resumo

A proposta deste estudo consistiu em saber de que forma os docentes universitários de uma instituição privada de ensino superior, localizada na cidade de Santa Maria/RS identificam a qualidade de vida no trabalho (QVT) e as situações de estresse. Os temas qualidade de vida e estresse no trabalho fazem parte da rotina das discussões das organizações, tendo em vista comprometerem a saúde e o bem-estar dos colaboradores e, em contrapartida, a qualidade e o desempenho da organização. O estudo justifica-se pela importância do impacto que a falta de QVT e a incidência de estresse causam em ocupações específicas, cujas fontes de pressão e exigências são significativamente mais elevadas. A categoria docente se encaixa por ser uma das mais afetadas, e podendo assim, ser prevenida. Os resultados demonstraram que os objetivos da pesquisa foram atendidos, identificando quais os aspectos de QVT são os maiores influenciadores da realidade do corpo docente.

The purpose of this study was to know how the university professors of a private institution of higher education, located in the city of Santa Maria / RS, identify quality of life at work (QWL) and stress situations. The issues of quality of life and stress at work are part of the routine of the organizations' discussions, with a view to compromising the health and well-being of employees and, in return, the quality and performance of the organization. The study is justified by the importance of the impact that the lack of QWL and the incidence of stress cause in specific occupations, whose sources of pressure and demands are significantly higher. The teaching category fits because it is one of the most affected, and can thus be prevented. The results demonstrated that the research objectives were met, identifying which aspects of QWL are the major influencers of the faculty reality.
